Founded in 2000, Mobidiag specializes in the molecular diagnostics of infectious diseases. The focus area of the company is high-quality content development for DNA biochip-based diagnostic assays. Mobidiag has selected clinically relevant panels of bacteria and other infectious disease markers and is developing efficient DNA detection technology for their analysis.

Mobidiag's core competencies include the know-how and IPR regarding proprietary DNA content for the diagnosis of infectious diseases and the unique approach to improve the whole diagnostic process by developing novel systems for identifying infectious disease markers with biochip technology. In addition, Mobidiag's central location within the Helsinki medical campus, as well as contacts with leading international hospitals, enables the company to rapidly validate new diagnostic tests for clinical use.

The Prove-it™ diagnostics technology tackles the main factors that have constrained the growth of the biochip diagnostic market. These factors are:

• unacceptable hands-on-time of the test kit
• expensive equipment and biochips
• unreliable results due to low specificity and sensitivity

Problematic factors are also the key deficiencies in current technologies, such as automation and standardization of the assays, specially skilled labor, software solutions to automate data processing, and clinical data to prove clinical relevance.

The first generation Prove-it™ products are aimed for bacterial and viral applications including antimicrobial resistance markers. Furthermore, the Company is broadening its application offering with fungal detection. In the longer term, Mobidiag will focus on providing rapid point-of-care (POC) solutions for diagnosing high-incidence outpatient diseases.
